In today's fast-paced business world, getting overwhelmed and burnt out is easy.
As a business coach, I've seen the impact of constant stress and screen time on performance and well-being.
To combat this, I recommend a simple 5-part formula: Stress, Stop, Reflect, Rest, Restart.
Here’s how you can incorporate this digital detox formula into your routine for better performance and mental clarity:
1. Stress
Acknowledge the stress you experience. It's a natural part of business, but recognizing it is the first step towards managing it.
2. Stop
Take deliberate breaks from your work. This doesn’t mean you need a week off or a secluded retreat. Instead, try setting aside half a day each week to unplug entirely.
3. Reflect
Use this downtime to reflect on your work and personal life. Consider what's working, what’s not, and how you can improve.

4. Rest
Rest is crucial. Spend time away from screens. Engage in analog activities like walking, exercising, reading a book, or spending quality time with loved ones.
5. Restart
After your break, return to work with a refreshed mind and renewed energy. You'll find yourself more productive and creative.
Practical Tips for Your Digital Detox
Half-Day Detox: Choose half a day each week to unplug. For example, I plan for the upcoming week on Sunday mornings and then unplug for the rest of the day. No tablets, no computers, no TV, and no social media. It's just pure, screen-free time.
Daily Digital Downtime: Alternatively, set a daily digital downtime, such as from 8 PM until the next morning. Use this time to unwind without screens, helping you sleep better and start the next day fresh.
