One decision could save your life and your business

A few years into our business I (Brandon) stopped doing a lot of healthy habits. I was eating a ton of fast food and lots of day old pastries. I did this because I didn’t make time or feel like I had the time to take care of myself. Here is a picture of me back then.
I look back on that and wonder, “What was I thinking?” It got worse too. I was trying to go to the gym around the corner. It was a super cheap gym and even had a trainer but I stopped going because I was too busy and had to work.
I got to the point where I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I went to the doctor and she confirmed it. I had high anxiety and stress. She asked me what I was doing to take care of myself and I really didn’t have much to say. You see, I knew what I should have been doing but I wasn’t doing it.
That’s when I decided to make sure I do the right things to take care of myself. I had lots of options some of which where:
1. Do nothing.
2. Get a gym membership and never go.
3. Get a personal fitness coach and get fit from home.
4. Get a gym membership and commit to going 3 to 5 times per week.
I decided on option 4. I got a monthly membership to the high-quality gym and made a commitment to myself and others to go. At first, I used an app to track my progress. I decided to take it seriously.
Now, I am in the best health of my life. I go to the gym almost everyday and run faster than when I was a Marine at age 18. I think that’s pretty good for a 40 year old.
It's all because I signed up for a membership and committed to it.
So here is my question: Why don't we do something similar for our business?
Coaching is great and all. I mean I love it. I should. Amanda and I are coaches and we help our clients figure out their plan and strategies. We help them figure out their business diet and exercise. If you need a tuning like that we'd love to talk.
BUT
I have realized that for business activist entrepreneurs, coaching can feel out of our reach. It can feel like it's just too much.
So we decided to create a place that is kind of like the gym for business activist entrepreneurs. It's a place where you can learn and grow your business and where you can develop and strengthen your voice and your tribe.
Most businesses fail. Maybe if we committed to our business health, it would be different.
To go to the gym, it costs me $50 a month and that's because I got an intro deal when it first opened.
Why wouldn’t we be more serious about paying for something that will help our businesses grow, help us as individuals grow, and help grow our impact?
When someone tells me they don’t have time or money to invest in this way. I think to myself, "I hope they know the result could be a heart attack on their business."
