The one classic which can make your company a unicorn

?I am such a fan of the classics that I find it really hard to look at some of the recent movies which hold no form of entertainment other than lots of drama and fights. There is absolutely no reason for them to fight or take part in as a character in this movie. I was watching an all time favourite movie of mine which is bawarchi. Its one of the best movies that I always go back to when I feel stressed or forget to smile back at my own child as I too believe that like in this movie one will get countless opportunities to earn and buy something but the little moments when you could do a difference to someone’s life and be remembered are very few and I want to be part of pleasant memories for my daughter.

Forget the difference of you as a boss or your colleagues as a servant and your company will swell with owners rather than employees who need to be monitored: “Katega bhunega toh alu ... isse main khaon ya bhalu”

Meaning: The potato will be cut and cooked ... whether I eat it or a bear

The movies background is of a learned person who begins his journey with a vision to spread happiness and remind us all that in our struggles to be someone great we are actually forgetting our morale values and also forgetting who is helping us get there just like most of the companies and bosses of this era who are practically riding all their employees forgetting their real self as they feel that an employee who is not ridden will not perform or reach their full potential.

“Kisi badi khushi ke intezaar mein ... hum yeh chote chote khushiyon ke mauke kho dete hain”.

Meaning: In waiting for a big happy moment ... we miss these small small happy moments

If you are a boss who has done this in the past then as a person who was in these shoes I can tell you that being human is the best way forward and you need not be mean or demanding to extract any service but can be passionate to put in the extra hours and your colleagues will more than happily join your crusade. Lemme explain this with a better example.

“Is duniya mein jab tak bhalai rupai aur paison se na tauli jaye ... woh bhalai nahin kehlati”

Meaning: In this world until a good deed is not weighed against money ... that good deed is not called a good deed

We as humans react with 5 major emotional states of which we could be in any 1 or all of the 5 states simultaneously. As a manager or boss if you are not aware of which state like Anger, Fear, Sadness, Disgust & Enjoyment that your colleague is in would end up losing the said colleague due to your indifference.

“Log zindagi ka sabse chota, sabse keemti labz bhool gaye hain ... pyar”

Meaning: People have forgotten the smallest and the most precious word of life ... love

A manager or boss who can recognize their colleagues current mental state to trigger their inner most desires with a challenge they would more happily meet than give up on, to support them through their emotional times would come on top with results like none before and none after.

“Jisme insaan ki bhalai ho woh kaam kabhi bura nahin hota”

Meaning: A task which is good for the human can never be bad

The key here is that the manager or boss themselves should recognize their states of emotions hide them behind my framework of SMILE and bring forth the master who is willing to stay back just for some additional work to support your colleague during their tough hours and help them deliver the results while being no part of the appreciation. This work must be done with the feeling or no expectation as then it will give you the returns in the multiple fold every time.

”apna kaam toh sabhi karte hain. Thoda saa dusron ka kaam karke dekhiye kitna sukh milta hai.”

Meaning: Every one does their own work but the enjoyment or fun which is held by the person who does others work as their own is phenonmenol.

There is a line in the movie which is also my fav which is,”apna kaam toh sabhi karte hain. Thoda saa dusron ka kaam karke dekhiye kitna sukh milta hai.” which means that your work you will anyways do but the fun or enjoyment which you get when you do someone else’s work to find that they liked it and smiled because of you is quite exhilarating really!!

Microsoft Is Almost 'doubling' Salaries To Retain Employees

OR

The BIG RESIGNATION

One of the many companies which I lead is culture cooks which is part of the companies culture to develop this very literal point as a part of the companies existing culture. This policy in the long run gives two distinctive advantage to the companies I have worked with, 1. it helps them retain or get their attrition rate to the bare minimum as most of their employees get the culture or happiness that they seek from the company they are working with and hence do not seek to find better opportunity elsewhere as they are satisfied with their current culture. 2. The companies need not spend heavy on recruiting new talent, training and giving employees time to adjust to the company culture to start giving results as this is taken care by the existing employees who will go out of the way to assist and bring their new comrade up to speed so as to get the best results for the company who is satisfying their emotional need and belonging so easily.

Knowledge is power hence enable your colleagues with as much knowledge on the business as you have:

“Raja ki puja sirf uske desh mein hoti hai ... aur vidhvan ki puja puri duniya mein hoti hai”

Meaning: A king is worshipped only in his country ... and a scholar is worshipped in the whole world

This is a huge but compulsory change which needs to be brought from the very top without which even in future the survival of the company is really tough. Actually most of the companies which fail is due to this very reason, at the beginning they are aware of what they want to do and how they want to grow, what their employee needs and how to satisfy them but as their numbers begin to swell they forget to stay connected with their employees thus losing out on their most important talent who have been instrumental in bringing them up and hence loose out on their steam which can get them going and then sustenance itself becomes a major challenge which leads to the company folding in the end due to increased toxicity in the companies culture.

Make your colleagues a part of your journey and see the magic which happens thereafter:

“Khushi ke gaane toh bilkul phuljadiyon ki tarah hai ... jalte hai aur bhuj jaate hai ... lekin udasi agarbatti ki tarah jalti hai der tak ... aur bhujne ke baad bhi mehakti rehti hai”

Meaning: Songs of happiness are just like sparklers ... they burn and finish off quickly... but sadness burns long like an incense stick... and even after going off their fragrance still exists

After studying several startups/companies since their inception to their closing I find it hard to hold this simple but essential key to the companies survival is this movie bawarchi. This simple movie which explains that it is so simple to be happy but so difficult to be simple can teach every CEO or business owner the most essential steps or key concepts which could get your business to the unicorn level easily as each of your colleagues will then as part of their mission join you to ensure that your company makes the profit which you seek. Any company irrespective of their size if backed by all of their colleagues will turn and stay profitable in no time at all. Think and try this to turn into the next unicorn.
