One Brief Shining Moment

Its like looking back on a dream,

Through milky mists that cloud the mind.

Now things aren't what they seem,

What we were is gone and lost in time.

We were so different long ago:

I was as a hero of a long past age;

You could always steal the show,

An actress on Life's grand stage.

Together we created a Legend;

Our true adventures beyond all belief

And like a Classic tale it ended;

Our souls saved by sorrow and grief.

So now you appear once again

Recalling only our dreams of Camelot,

But I remember the Dragon's flame:

That Hellish pain that you have forgot.

I know there were moments few

When the love we had was beautiful and real.

Yet, you know what I say is true:

All of love's beauty came from a devil's deal.

If perchance you find another Grael knight

Willing to fight dragons and raze castle walls

Remember our Romance in hindsight,

And I will pray your new kingdom never falls.
