No One was Born Poor
Jacob Kinyanjui, Ph.D, PMP, PSM

No one was born poor. You were released on this planet fully loaded. Your parents may have been poor. But you don’t have to inherit their poverty. Poverty is an acquired mental state. It’s easier to blame the government or our upbringing, but even in the poorest environments, great people emerge and break loose from the chains of poverty. God gives everyone time and a chance in life.
“Ecclesiastes 9:11 - …but time and chance happen to them all.”
Everybody knows that there’re people who were raised in very difficult situations or dispensations like during slave trade. But I’m writing this article to you reading these lines. If you can read what I’ve written, you went to school. Avoid unhelpful hypothetical arguments about why some people are poor and take stock of your life. Are you in the right frame of mind for God to prosper you?
While God plans to prosper all of us (Jeremiah 29:11), there are things that we do that make some of us wallow in poverty. No wonder Jesus said that the poor will always be with us (Matthew 26:11). There’re people who live expecting to be helped. There’re people who fight success and the successful. And then they wonder why they continually attract poverty and hopelessness.
