Where It All Began
My journey in early childhood education began over a decade ago when I stepped into the classroom as a Classroom Assistant III in an early years setting. From the very first day, I knew this was more than just a job—it was a calling.
Watching young children learn, grow, and express their curiosity sparked a passion in me that only deepened over time. I pursued further studies in child psychology, special educational needs, and play-based learning, refining my approach to teaching.
As an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)-certified practitioner, trained by the National Day Nurseries Association (UK), I gained the tools to create enriching, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Building a Play-Based Learning Hub
Today, I am the Lead Co-Learner at The Acorn Learning Centre, where I run a play-based and project-based learning hub for children aged 0-6. This space isn’t just about education—it’s about fostering creativity, curiosity, and a love for lifelong learning.
Beyond working with children, I support parents as a homeschooling consultant and facilitator, helping them create individualized learning experiences for their children. I also train educators and school leaders, equipping them with inclusive teaching methods that honor every child’s unique learning journey.
Merging Creativity with Education
My journey hasn’t been confined to traditional education alone. With experience in fashion and UI/UX design, I bring a creative and problem-solving mindset to early childhood education.
Whether it’s designing educational resources, developing teacher training programs, or crafting curriculums tailored to diverse learning needs, I strive to make learning both engaging and meaningful.
The Joy of Discovery
What I love most about early childhood education is the magic of discovery—the moment when a child makes a connection, explores freely, and learns through play. Seeing young learners develop confidence, curiosity, and independence through meaningful experiences is incredibly rewarding.
What Needs to Change
One of the biggest frustrations in ECEC is the rigid, test-driven approach to early education. Too many systems prioritize rote learning over creativity, play, and exploration—ultimately stifling children’s natural curiosity and joy for learning.
If I could change one thing in the sector, it would be to move away from standardized testing and instead focus on holistic, child-centered education. By valuing play, social-emotional development, and hands-on learning, we can create an education system that nurtures each child’s unique potential.
Personal & Fun Insights
If I Had a Warning Label, It Would Say:
"Warning: Highly passionate about education! May start impromptu discussions about child-led learning and inclusive classrooms."
Best Advice I Ever Received:
"Meet children where they are."
This simple yet powerful advice serves as a constant reminder to respect each child's individual learning journey and provide them with the right support to thrive.
A Book That Shaped My Educational Philosophy:
The Hundred Languages of Children by Loris Malaguzzi and Unschooled by Kerry McDonald deepened my belief in child-led, inquiry-based learning and the Reggio Emilia approach.
Looking Ahead: My Vision for the Future
Where Do I See Myself in Five Years?
I envision expanding The Acorn Learning Centre into a leading hub for:
? Homeschooling support
? Teacher training programs
? Innovative early childhood education
Additionally, I aim to launch more educational products and advocate for better early childhood policies, especially in Nigeria and across Africa.
The Legacy I Hope to Leave
I want to be remembered as someone who transformed early childhood education by making learning more inclusive, play-based, and meaningful.
My mission is to inspire educators and parents to rethink traditional methods, embracing child-centered approaches that nurture creativity, independence, and a lifelong love for learning.
