One of the best ways to increase participation.

The entire foodservice staff wouldn’t even sit together at lunch. Instead of being a unified force…they were divided. The staff knew it wasn’t good and so did the students. It’s funny how perceptive kids can be when things aren’t quite right. After I arrived at the school and saw what was going on, I was determined to help this staff iron out their differences and work together for the common good of the program and the students. And that’s what I did. In just two weeks time the staff was sitting together at lunch, laughing and having a good time. I’ll admit this is an extreme example, but it really brings home how important is it for your entire organization to be unified and working toward a common goal. That’s why I get these kinds of comments a lot… “I was out in the schools days after your workshop, the employees were still talking about how much they enjoyed it. I also observed them putting a little extra effort into serving the students. It was a pleasure to see. Thank you for the inspiration.” – Linda Irby

One of the fastest ways to jump-start your organization and make a huge difference in participation, employee satisfaction, and results is through professional development. I can almost hear you groan when I say “professional development” I know I did when I was a senior manager. Because it was usually information delivered in one direction, often without much relevance to the daily challenges I faced. Many times I struggled to figure out what I was supposed to do with the information after it was over. When I started Ingenious Culinary Concepts I promised myself I would never present lectures like that. I wanted to do things differently. And I do. At my professional development sessions we all become part of a conversation. I listen and we all learn. We make new connections and come out of the experience with practical information. I’m talking about real-world ideas you can try out right away to see the difference they make – in participation, efficiency, communication and satisfaction.

Developing employees, listening and creating a “team” are all great ideas! Thanks Kern!
