Once upon a time, there was a manager...
While reading my LinkedIn updates, I crossed in a single day several excellent advices and highlights about leadership. I realized my luckiness to walk through daily my updates and to have a quite extensive network… and that most probably many of you do not take (enough) time to take the most of the best asset: people thoughts.
So allow me to encourage you by providing few of my collected updates around management and leadership. Please do not blame me to use only he/his/him and no she… this is just for writing easiness (I am a strong believer in gender equity).
Once upon a time, there was a manager…
Full of stress…
Having his first management position, his daily activities were constantly growing, adding pressure and were pushing him to work constantly more and more. No time to step back… no time to look around… setting himself to be more and more isolated not only in his work but also from his family and friends. Yes, he is a hard worker but not (yet) a leader… even not yet a manager… Before too late, he took a breath... Do you feel today in that stress spiral? Step back and follow some simple and easy advices (thank you Caroline Bouteiller for this share)
Restart thinking…
There are many ways to manage stress and to get back in a more bearable situation. Once started, it is a positive snow ball effect…
Having time (even just a little bit) allows you to open your mind and enjoy learning.
By learning, together with some time, allows you to think about your ideas...
And he changed... becoming a true manager.
He realizes also that...
The most valuable in the way to success is to set all foundations to build the next one. And what's more enjoyable than developing not only himself, but also the others?
Through his mind more and more opened, each step becomes a lessons, each contact an opportunity
To catch all new opportunities to move forward, he understands several wisedom...
"When the wind of change blows, some build walls... other build windmills" (chinese proverb)
"Avoid negative people... they always have a problem for each solution"
But change takes time... he learned also to be patient when requested...
At each time, he achieved a new step
And finally be becomes a real leader...
So...
To conclude, what could be the ultimate secret? Is there any way to surely progress towards leadership?
Yes... allow me this last piece of wisedom...
