The King and God....
Once upon a time a King expressed a very strange and unusual wish to his minister, "I want to meet God."
"Well my lord, it might be a long journey. You better pack your luggage wisely. And remember, God might just be in a disguise."
The King packed his suitcase with some clothes and lot of his favourite cakes and pastries. Then he started off. By noon he had travelled a long distance and was very tired. So he decided to rest in a park.
As he took out a cake and started eating it joyfully, he saw a poor boy in ragged clothes, staring at him from a distance. The King called the boy and offered him a piece of his cake.
The boy took the piece gratefully and smiled. The smile was so beautiful that the King wanted to see it again. So he offered another piece to the kid and the kid smiled again. The King was delighted.
They sat all afternoon eating and sharing all the cakes and pastries; smiling at each other without saying a single word.
When it was dark, the King gave the boy all the remaining cakes and left for this palace.
"You returned so soon. Did you meet God, my king?" asked the minister.
"Yes, and I ate pastries with God. He was much younger than I expected," said the King.
Too often we underestimate the power of a simple smile, a kind word, a helpful gesture. It is in these small acts of caring that God lives.
Make someone happy today; meet God.
