Onboarding the Yoga way!
Atha Yoganushasanam
You are ready!
Atha does not just mean “Now”. It indicates an auspicious moment. The moment when the student and teacher are ready to receive and transfer knowledge.
Anushasanam is the study of a discipline through a tried and tested process that has consistently proven results.
So much importance is given to the right time, readiness and process for a successful journey of learning and growth.
Shouldn’t Companies be looking at onboarding with the same amount of care? Afterall, every employee leaves a lasting impression on the Company or team they work with no matter how short the alliance. There is no excuse for a not devoting time and effort in designing a well thought through joining process when we have so many tools to help us. The design need not be elaborate or expensive. It just needs to be thoughtfully designed keeping in mind the Company’s values, culture and goals.
Use technology to save time I spent in all the form filling.
Create interesting Company introduction videos that new employees can go through themselves instead of having a bored trainer repeat the same ppt week after week.
Allot more time for human interaction. New employees should be able to spend time getting comfortable with the Company, their colleagues.
New employees come with a fresh perspective and ideas. Allow for time and a platform for them to express their ideas and work on them.
Gamify the process to make it more fun and interactive
There are so many ways to make the onboarding experience meaningful and fun for everyone. Get creative and make the first day at work a truly auspicious moment for all.
