Onboarding Mobile App for the War in Israel

On October 7th, 2023, Israel was attacked by Hamas. Hundreds of civilians, soldiers, and police personnel were murdered, kidnapped, or killed while trying to escape, defend, and protect their country and fellow citizens.

In the time to come, after this Black Saturday, the Israeli people have gathered and worked around the clock, as a united front, against the Hamas threat, and in fighting their terror.

This included donations (of food, clothes, and equipment), the formation of support, information, and expertise-sharing hubs around Israel, and more.

As part of our collaborative efforts, we also shared technical knowledge, experience, and hands-on development in creating support systems to collect, identify, tag, and analyze data.

I took part in several projects (non-technical and technical), one of which created a mobile app dedicated to sharing information between (above-mentioned) hubs.

I was responsible for the design and development of an intuitive, user-friendly onboarding experience. My responsibilities spanned UX research, prototyping, building the design, and implementation for a quick, easy-to-understand, and follow onboarding process.

Onboarding 1st screen - Guiding user to approve location tracking

I worked with Figma on the UX and design, while finally implementing the design to the Flutter-based app.

Due to circumstances, the whole process was quick, and within a few hours, it was complete.

The end result consisted of 4 screens, a frictionless entry for new users, by which the user can easily understand what needs to be done, and what's the next step. This resulted in a quick solution to an otherwise costly need for human onboarding 1-on-1 sessions.

I'm proud and glad to have taken part in this collaborative project, making the mobile app easier to use, where it's most required.
