Because you asked for it, here is the first-ever Onboard with Marcela NEWSLETTER!

Where I will share with you yachting events, insights, personal points of view, discounts, and cool content!

Disclaimer: This is a fun project that I do in my free time (which I don’t have) so please to the Grammar police out there on the internet I apologize in advance because there will be spelling and grammar mistakes since this is a personal thing like if I am writing to a friend. This week there is PALM BEACH BOAT SHOW from 24-27th of March.

It is personally my favourite show in the world, and I usually always go there but this year I am teaching the yachting masterclass and I can’t abandon my faithful students!

?I am personally attending the MONACO CAPITAL OF YACHTING DAY this Thursday 24th of March.

On the 21st of March, there is the MONACO OCEAN WEEK until the 26h of March in Monaco.

This week we have the module on YACHT DESIGN with Espen Oeino and the module on YACHT OWNERSHIP with Anthony Galea from Vistra.

GOSSIP

Have you heard what is happening with Ragnar yacht ? (I just noticed they closed their Instagram page for obvious reasons). There are so many rumours and, of course, people just believe everything they see online!?There are articles saying that it’s owned by an ex-KGB spy and of course, this is all BS! I know the real owners and what is happening in the current pollical climate is crazy! Not all Russians are bad, and we can’t punish them all and be racist against them! Yes, I agree the best ideal solution would be for the Russian people to stand against Putin and stop the war, but it is easier said than done. Have you watched the video where Putin is threatening “scums and traitors” to talk bad about him?

I don’t know what the solution is, and I don’t think I am knowledgeable enough about politics to leave a comment on this.

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH ALL RUSSIAN YACHTS?

I recently made a reel about it and I loved the comment by @naval_yachting?

1. Nobody knows how to handle this situation because this has never happened before. I don’t even think there are clear laws out there to handle this situation.

2. None of the countries that have seized these yachts or villas have any ownership rights on these assets. That means they can use or sell these assets for any reason unless they prove that the owner bought them because of an illegal operation…

3. None of these oligarchs ever paid their assets Cash. In reality, there are major bank loans behind them, and the banks will be the first ones to ask for these assets…

4. Who’s paying for the berthing of these yachts, the taxes of these homes, the unpaid crew and so on?

5. There is a major grey zone here. The state can’t take ownership, the owner is not allowed to use, sail, or sell…in my opinion the bank comes next but without these oligarchs, the banks will go bankrupt first…let’s be real!!! They never refused to pay. Their bank accounts were frozen

FUN FACT:

Did you know that, if you find an unmanned ship/vessel/yacht in the middle of nowhere…in international waters you can keep it. You may ask the owner for money to give it back…or you can take ownership… the worse case the states will have to cut the ropes, tug the boats in the middle of nowhere and pretend they found them unmanned and take ownership.
