#OMG Twitter: When are you going to crack it?

With a valuation 1/20th of that of FaceBook its #TwitterSharePrice continues to languish. This has to be the biggest modern day tech conundrum! Twitter users love Twitter and remain loyal and addicted...and the rest?

The rest: #DontGetTwitter

It's  #TwitterMarmite! 

#Why?  Surely it's only a matter of time?

Of all the social platforms this for me is the most educational, exciting, addictive and ubiquitous. Is there a major website or brand in the world that does not have that Logo attached to just about every piece of its marketing literature? Can you not listen to 10 minutes of any media outlet, news item, TV program, without the word Twitter being used or a @ or # to follow? In terms of branding it’s up there with Facebook no doubt! And these days on just about every product you buy that happy blue bird’s logo is perched proudly next ro the blue F of facebook. On every mobile device you get the Twitter app will be pre-installed. Its branding is endless and pervasive  

#LoveIsland one of the biggest and fastest growing tv shows in the UK targeting the young goes from 300k to 600k followers in a matter of weeks!

#What?   So Twitter...What more do you want? 

Frankly it's a #BrandPhenomena unmatched by few here to stay. Us users love it and there's nothing like it.

Where have they won? 

As a brand Twitter has done it! Albeit not by themselves but by the ubiquity of the platform.

and Where have they failed?

As a communicator of how to market to new users they have failed….so far

When?

regardless of the amount of followers or new account holders etc surely this is just a #$behemoth waiting to happen. The hashtag has been crowned people use it in common language the stars the celebrities, the VCs: they love using Twitter. How and when are they going to monetize this incredible massive brand? #SURELYGOINGTOHAPPENSOON

How?

Who can change their fortune! 

Not the branding team! But the creative advertising department by clear visual advertising on the immense benefits for users and how to use it:

  1. Incredible Research tool. Not just to get real time info from the places and people that mean soething to you but to ensure you do in the future, by following the right people / businesses or information providers, and to “turn on mobile notifications” from them.
  2. To brand your business using Twitter and appropriate Hashtags
  3. To actually clearly explain the difference between a #t and an @
  4. To show users how quickly they can be reimbursed or at least apologised to if
