On the 21st of July Ombudsman Services hosted an event at the House of Lords with the Baroness Jones of Whitchurch and the Chief Ombudsman, Lewis Shand Smith. The event was billed as "Broadening the offering" and was attended by many of the movers and shakers in the ADR environment of England, Wales, Scotland & Ireland. Today (2nd September) the "Small Business Service" goes live. Developed to help businesses of fewer than 500 employees to access the benefits of commercial ADR at reduced rates. Under the service mediation is available to resolve disputes where the monetary value in dispute does not exceed ￡500,000 / €500,000 (inclusive of relevant taxes).
