Oman Climate Week – United To Accelerate Climate Action? Global Experts to Convene in Support of Oman Climate Week 2025?
In a bid to accelerate climate action, the Oman Environment Authority , in cooperation with UNEP, Sultan Qaboos University , Ministry of Higher Education Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism - Sultanate of Oman , and Birba will organise the inaugural edition of Oman Climate Week February 24-27, 2025 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat.?
This announcement was made at a media briefing in Muscat today by H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali Al Amri Chairman of Oman Environment Authority . In his welcome note, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali Al Amri highlighted how this landmark event will bring together global experts to address climate change and explore? collaborative opportunities in the Sultanate of Oman, a hub for sustainable innovation.?
H.E. Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali Al Amri stated: Oman is actively addressing climate change through its commitments under the Paris Agreement, Oman Oman Vision 2040 ???? ????? , and a National Climate Strategy. Key efforts include emission reductions, energy efficiency, climate adaptation plans, green hydrogen production, and renewable energy investments.?
The Sultanate of Oman’s first Climate Week is aligned with the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to address climate change in keeping with Oman Vision 2040 and the Paris Agreement. The event series will explore the cooperation required to deliver a 1.5°C aligned outcome in 2025 in line with commitments made at COP29 and will focus on the collaboration across governments and sectors to reduce climate impact. ? ?
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. @Mohammed Al-Kalbani, Director General of Environmental Affairs at Oman’s Environment Authority noted the urgency of the climate crisis affecting our planet. He highlighted - “The rapid environmental breakdown, the massive economic fallouts and the health and security crisis that have made immediate climate action inevitable to protect human lives and ensure global stability.”??

In light of the occasion, the Environment Authority unveiled the logo for Oman Climate Week, representing ‘Life in a Sustainable World.’ In his speech, Dr. Al-Kalbani highlighted the 6-fold goals for Oman Climate Week – fostering climate action, facilitating regional cooperation, driving local and regional business, supporting the adoption and scaling of solutions, showcasing the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment and encouraging community engagement.?
Chaired by Oman’s Environment Authority, the event series will offer an immersive experience to the delegates in the form of a global exhibition with a focus on climate and environmental technologies, conferences,? technology & science talks, masterclass workshops, networking hub and field visits, all planned around the focus themes of climate mitigation, climate adaptation, climate finance, carbon markets, climate technologies, loss and damage and social inclusion. Oman Climate Week will provide a regional platform for global industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to unite to accelerate the roll out of climate solutions while exploring how the world may overcome the challenges, that lay ahead. ? ? ______________________________________________?
