The Olympic Games are approaching, and the unnecessary correlation between India's population and medals will begin soon. Instead, shouldn't the correlation be "kids' population and are they playing enough?" If the Olympics is at the apex of the sports pyramid, what then lies at the bottom??

The media has shifted its focus towards elite athletes, with the Paris 2024 games less than 100 days away. Amidst all this, Sportstar invited me and Saumil Majmudar to discuss "Get Kids To Play, "our new book, which has nothing to do with how to create champions or win medals.?

As the title suggests, our book is about getting kids to play in schools, apartments, parks, or streets. Call it grassroots or bottom of the pyramid, Saumil Majmudar and I designed the book with two critical decision-makers in mind – parents and school leaders. Both groups want to get the kids to play but often struggle with the "How?" and get bogged down with obstacles.

Like a toolkit, "Get Kids To Play" has a range of tools, utilities, and practices to negotiate the various challenges. The five chapters, namely Space, Time, Child, Content, and Facilitator, are organized in such a way that readers can jump to their choice of topic based on their needs.
