Olympic Hockey without the NHL -- Pyeongchang's big test
International Ice Hockey Federation President Rene Fasel admits he's "very disappointed" with the NHL's decision to skip the 2018 Winter Games.
When asked about NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman's moves to crack China's market, Fasel pointed out that a good map would've shown the NHL boss just how close South Korea is to China and how a 2018 Olympics appearance would've helped make some inroads. He also suggested the NHL -- admittedly, he says, the world's best hockey league -- should be wary of coming in with "big shoes and big cigars" as it tries to expand into new markets.
It's a good interview for this Olympic season. Take a listen.
