The concrete repair work to the podium deck at Abraham Moss Community School is well underway, an essential phase in safeguarding the integrity of the structure below that encompasses crucial service and plant rooms. Utilising @Natcem 35, known for its rapid setting and durable properties, the project is pivotal not only for structural stability but also as a fundamental component of any effective waterproofing system. It’s a known fact within the industry: if the structure fails, so does the waterproofing system.

For years, the service areas beneath the podium, which house the substations powering the school and part of the Metrolink line, have been plagued by water ingress. Despite numerous attempts by various contractors to rectify the issue, all efforts have remained fruitless until now.

Our current restoration began with the complete stripping back of the deck, a process which unveiled several underlying issues, such as incorrect invert levels and defects within the deck structure itself. These discoveries were critical, as they informed the next steps of our precise and meticulous repair strategy.

At Olympic Construction Ltd, our team of CSSW-qualified waterproofing experts are well-versed in designing systems that adhere strictly to BS8102 standards. We are also proudly listed on the Property Care Association Specialist Waterproofing Experts register, underscoring our commitment to excellence and adherence to the highest industry standards.

The next step, once the deck has been made secure, involves the installation of the @Delta Membranes Koster waterproofing system, a choice guided by its proven effectiveness and compatibility with the rigorous demands of such a significant structural application. This system will ensure that the school’s service areas are protected from water damage, securing the operational integrity of the vital facilities they contain.

By addressing these critical issues with expert solutions and high-quality materials, we are not just repairing a structure; we are enhancing its resilience and functionality for the future. This project underscores our dedication to delivering lasting solutions and showcases our technical expertise in overcoming challenges that have baffled others for years. Stay tuned as we continue to make strides in this essential renovation, ensuring safety and stability for Abraham Moss Community School.
