Olympic 400M champion Wayde van Niekerk for adidas

Ever since I was a little boy, the Olympic Games have had a very special place in my heart.

Looking back, the Barcelona Games in 1992 was the one that got me hooked. I vividly remember the opening sequence from the BBC tv coverage (and the Queen track that accompanied it). The emotional roller coaster of watching British athletes like Sally Gunnell and Linford Christie win Gold.

But moreover it was the raw emotion I witnessed in every sport that stuck with me. Seeing what it meant to those athletes who had dedicated the past 4 years (and much more) to peaking at that specific moment in their life. The tears of defeat, the ecstatic high, and sometimes relief of victory.

And in 2012 I got to experience that live, attending as many events as I could get tickets for at my home games in London. Wow.

So now as a photographer and director, working with Olympic Champions like Wayde Van Niekerk - it's beyond special for me. I feel very blessed
