The older I get, more I prefer to sit in silence than with those who judge me

As a general statement it is quite true that older you get you prefer to be silent than be talking but in some cases this less talking may happen to younger people who had more hardships in their life and found no one really help they begin to see how vain and fake their relations are they began to lose trust in people in general so talking is waste of effort to them and change nothing so they find peace in silence.

But some older people have fewer people to talk to so they will talk continually when they find someone to listen. Others realize that listening is far more appreciated than talking and speak only when they feel they have something of value to say. I have a pretty big issue with most of the advice on aging because a lot of it just isn’t based in reality.

And there’s no magic pill or cream which is going to make you 30 years younger. But remember this - the body is programmed to self-destruct as we age. There is no getting around that. It is much wiser to listen than to be heard (especially all the time)! They don’t feel the need to respond to everything, to always be heard, to prove their point-of-view, or have time to debate & justify the peace within, comfort & confidence in silence.

It is also called as age related maturity. As we grow up, we tend to think before we talk openly as some people are sensible to certain topics. So, yes, it is sometimes better to zip it rather than blurting out everything that comes to the mind. This happens with all of us at some point or the other, specially when we are struggling or going through a phase where we find ourselves fallen down and everyone else seems to be doing good then I think one’s confidence level starts falling.

And what this does is that, then one starts becoming very quiet and disinterested and very serious in everything because of something (any problem) in one’s career or personal life which makes one feel a very sad and one feels that the one most important thing in one’s life is something which he/she may be struggling to achieve and other things are seen as not so important . This is the time when one finds oneself in comparison to others as someone left behind irrespective of one’s hard work.

Also some times things in life are out of our control and at that time these people realize the same and accept it but are not able to be happy as they find themselves irrelevant in other peoples life or find the happiness irrelevant in their lives. To change this, its not very difficult, all you need is to work hard in which ever field you are looking to achieve something which you may be struggling since long. Patience and Perseverance would be the key to all your problems. Often one negative thought leads to the flow of thousand negative thoughts hence no matte what happens keep reminding yourself that its just the matter of time and after some time this phase would finally get over. Silence is Suspence?????

Well said the key I find is by controlling your thought by interrupting your thought as soon as you start things things that are harmful to ones self, I'm not going to think that way
