Old HP printers were the best ever
I have to express my deepest respect and admiration for my old retired, ancient HP laser printer. This is what happened: Sunday evening, I need to print tickets for the concert this evening, launch the print, nothing happens, suddenly my new inkjet printer says "ink cartridge dead". What to do? Can't be fixed, all stores are closed.
Now I have this ancient HP 2200DN in the attic. I took it home from the storage room at my old company in 2006 after it had been replaced for being too old. This printer hasn't been used for 10 years. I blow away the layers of dust, I check inside, there is a canister of toner. I switch it on, it heats up for a moment, I press on a random button and out comes a crisp self test. Amazed I connect the laptop, the clever thing identifies itself with its paleolithic software in such a way that Windows 8.1 accepts it at once.
I press print and it starts humming joyously, as if it never ceased working for a second. I wish all hardware was like that.
