Old Blog Post 8: My Greatest Fear

Old Blog Post 8: My Greatest Fear

I am terrified.?

I have this fear and I cannot lie.?

My biggest fear in this world is: throwing out my keys with the garbage.?

My sleep is disturbed because of it. I get a dream many nights, that is a movie, where I am starring as the chief-key-thrower. Mithunda stars in it. I don’t have any recollection of his role, but this is the poster that flashes in front of my eyes.?

"Chaabi: The Keys"

The plot is like a bollywood horror film.?

Close your eyes and imagine this.?

It’s a sunny day and you have garbage bags and house keys in both your hands. You are a-swinging in your gait, and whistling an outoftune?‘sheesha ho ya dil ho…..”?and smiling.
The bright sun is playing hide and peek with you between the shadows of the tree’s, as you approach the garbage bin. You are happy. You swing 1 bag into the bin, and then you swing your other arm back, arching just enough to propell the the weight into a momentum, so that it reaches far deep into the bin.?

In slow motion, your garbage bag flies into the bin, and your keys with it.?

This movie has run through my mind so many times, I get shivers when I’m near the garbage can. My trembles could be mistaken to be trembles of disgust.

But nooooooooo.?

It is an all-consuming fear. Because my plan B for getting back in to the house, doesn’t work.?

In fact, my friends.?

There is no plan B

My plan B is figuratively scribbled, in pencil, on the side of a torn soggy grocery reciept, that will ironically and carelessly be thrown into the garbage bin. The bin eats all hope.?

What is one to do? The phone is in the house so I can’t contact civilization. I will have to walk to a friends place. What if they aren’t at home? I will be walking through the streets of California, limping and stumbling, thirsty and hungry, like a wanderer in that big fat desert in the north of Africa (I forgot what it is called).?

Socially also, it is a big problem.?

You can be run over by a city tram, because you did not look before you crossed the road, and your friends will?sympathize?with you.?

If you throw your keys out with the garbage, everyone will think you are a complete idiot.?

Last year, I got locked out of my apartment. I had stepped out with 2 apples and the door banged shut behind me. So I was stuck in the corridor with 2 fruits in my hand. It reminded me of Aditya Pancholi in Yes Boss, holding?2 mangoes in his hands,?trying to get recognized by someone he was to meet.?

Lucky that I had my phone on me, so my friends gave me shelter, till the apartment manager broke into my apartment.?

Now I hold my keys on a spring keychain around my wrist.?

The nightmares have gone down and I sleep better.?

Thanks for asking.?

What is your biggest fear?
