Old Age Pension and the Duty of Govt. of India and of each State Govt.

STATE (a nation by sanctity in International perspective) is the de jure Chief Guardian of its citizens. Yes, my dear friends it is true in modern age. A State has got the roll of mentor and savior of its nationals today. I am mainly saying this in view of present voices being raised for retirement pension by the Centre as well as each State government’s employees. Do the public sector employees are the only class which need pension after retirement or each citizen of Republic of India needs pension? This question soaring me for some time past. Actually we all citizens need old age security in present time. Be it public sector or private sector employee. We all need financial security and assistance in our old age. Therefore, the State (which includes Center as well as each State) must evolve such a policy which ensure financial assistance at our old age and the Government must pass an Act of Parliament in which the Old Age Pension is fixed for every citizen and nobody should be remained a struggler in his old age. After all, we are human beings and we have physical limits of our own where we cannot perform physical work after a certain age is achieved. Although the government has been granting old age pension under a policy but it is too meager. Rs. 1000 are not sufficient to maintain a person entirely in his old age. What I have seen and experienced till date that a person would continue to pay different taxes to the government in his whole life but when an individual grows old with the passage of time, the STATE (government) withdraws its hands to help him in crucial time of his life. It is very measurable and unacceptable. Therefore the next revolution India needs at present is to ensure the financial stability of its Citizens in their old age.
