ECI was called out last year to O’Hare Airport’s impound lot #1 in Chicago. At the location we installed a Nice/HySecurity SlideDriver? sliding gate operator. The operator automatically opens and closes the security gate shown in the image above. To the right we see the green rail operator on the concrete block and is seen close up below and to the left.

These sliding gate operators are both powerful and long-lasting. They can move gates weighing as much as 10 tons at high speeds up to three feet per second. They are constructed to ensure low maintenance with Industrial grade components.

All the necessary concrete and electrical work in the installation was included. Shown below at the upper left are some of the ‘during’ installation work which included excavation, electrical installation and connections, excavation, protective bollards and concrete pads. The trench work is not shown.

The same location is shown at the right after the installation was completed. A customer supplied card reader was installed on a tall gooseneck pedestal. The height accommodates the level of a tow truck driver’s window.

Shown at the lower left on a pole, dual photo-electric beams can be seen. They indicate when a truck (with or without an impounded vehicle) has cleared the entry so that the gate can automatically close behind.

As a safety factor, the safety edge guards were also included on the gate. Vehicle detector loops are installed to open the gate when the tow truck or vehicle exits and then to close once the vehicle clears the gate.
