Oh what a feeling!

Oh what a feeling!

Today I had the honour of informing 26 individuals and 7 groups that they had received funding from the Dan Maskell Tennis Trust after our first Trustees meeting of the year. This funding is for a variety of things; personalised tennis wheelchairs, equipment packages, coaching or funding to start a disability tennis session.

It felt amazing to receive such heartfelt replies from everyone, telling me what a big difference this would make to their life. Some players have struggled with their mental health, especially during Covid, and knowing that I got to play a small part in bringing them some joy and relief is so rewarding. Job satisfaction can come in many forms and the rewards can often be measured in financial terms, but that feeling I’ve had all day can never be beaten.

We are a small charity and we do our best to be ever thrifty with the funds we have, relying on donated time and expertise from our Trustees, Vice Presidents, our wonderful President Elaine Paige OBE as well as many other supporters.

If your workplace is ever running a charity event – no matter how big or small, or if you are participating in a marathon or other fundraiser, please keep the Dan Maskell Tennis Trust in mind, and help me to continue to have days like these when you feel like the world is just an amazing place!
