The Oh Sh*t Moment - Part 1

The Oh Sh*t Moment - Part 1

The Oh Sh*t Moment - Part 1

Take a second and think back to the last time you genuinely stopped and went, “Oh Sh*t!!”... If you are anything like me there was a very visceral feeling to that moment.?

I remember the first time I fell whilst lead climbing outdoors…?

I reached with my right arm…

My fingers grazed the hold, rough sandstone, sharp and thin…

Too thin, a worse hold than I thought, grasping…?

My fingers slip…

I’m falling, where’s the rope, just air…?

"Oh Sh*t"

That’s the feeling I mean; and I can honestly say that today, that feeling hit me again… and I love it!!?

I realised with an awesome and immersive sense of excitement and fear that in exactly 1 week from today, for the first time since I left uni, I will be unemployed!!?

I have been incredibly lucky in my business career… Have I worked relatively hard?, sure. However, I have also been incredibly privileged and for that I am very grateful.?

In my career I have had some exceptional direct and indirect managers and leaders around me. I have been able to learn from some of the best minds in consulting, advisory, IT, business and government and I have been privy to exceptional training and development opportunities.?

I have had wonderful peers and built awesome friendships, whilst having an incredibly diverse set of experiences across multiple industries, roles and company sizes. I have been lucky enough to work on cool projects that make a difference, and have had the chance to create and perpetuate change in wonderful industries with respected and exceptional brands.?

I have also sworn a lot, moaned, apologized for moaning, been convinced I was right when I was wrong, been convinced I was wrong when I was right, thrown up before a presentation, tripped over in a suit and used far too many dad jokes as ice breakers.?

I am incredibly thankful for the opportunities I have had and most recently the chance to learn from and contribute to the incredible team, leadership group and owners of Axe Group. It has been a privilege beyond my wildest dreams!! Axe is going to go on to do amazing things and I am so proud to have been able to contribute in some small way to their incredible journey!!

It is only with the help of all of these people and with the collection of these incredible experiences that I am able to have the confidence to take some time off as an officially unemployed person… enjoying much of the next month or so on the Wild Atlantic Coast of Ireland (see picture for what I will be doing) before coming back to get stuck into working for myself… which is the “Oh Sh*t” Moment if you haven’t figured that out yet!!?

Thank you all for your support and I am super excited to tell people a little more about what I will be getting up to as I set up my own business, in “The "Oh Sh*t" Moment - Part 2”

Peace!!
