April showers bring May flowers... you may have heard. This April has been an intense period of convergence for me with closing out College Term and much more. I have also posted on finding purpose and Resourcefulness and much, much more this month.
I offer this up to (a) clue up on this month of convergence and (b) suggest that harvesting requires planting. Yielding requires surrendering to advance. These next four months for me are about rest and repair and re-imagining... about deconstructing and reconstructing. 40+ years of career in leadership training and development... and 60+ years of living... it is time for another sojourn into a metaphorical wilderness. I say this with the Virtues of...
... in mind and heart. Reflect on Openness, Honesty, Mindfulness and Yielding. What might they look like for you?
For me, during this period of immersive rest, repair and re-imagining... physically, mentally and emotionally... it is about dialing back to move forward.
It is about getting back to my essentials. It is about re-setting my focus. It is about aligning ever more to meaning. It is about being open and honest with myself, mindful and committing to the practice of Yielding.
My humble suggestion to you is that it is not only important to "get our rest" regularly... but it is vital to take time to find periodic spaces and times of sojourn; our oases of Openness, Honesty, Mindfulness and Yielding. They are foundational to clear the decks and prepare anew. Such self reflection can unlock something special.
I will take my time.

I speak, teach, coach, facilitate, lead, write, sing, dance, cartoon and create on that. In 1980, Professor Rolf Hattenauer changed my life. A highly respected expert in Human Resource Management, he expected much of us and he believed much in us. He was an educator and leader of high character. He was extraordinary. To this day and beyond, I try my darnedest to honor his spirit with my own work. That is another story. But I hope I did him service here.
