Oh great, another podcast...

Oh great, another podcast...

As you may have seen (or heard my "Ausmerican" accent) recently, I've started a podcast, and wanted to share a little insight into why.

I created this, "Infrastructure as a Newsletter", for *checks calendar* just shy of a year ago, and grateful to now have over 1300 subscribers. For something I was quite hesitant to start, I have definitely seen the fruits of my labor, and thankful my wife Victoria Hume encouraged me to put hands to keyboard, and to wade into the uncomfortable.

I have quite enjoyed producing each article (this makes 24!) as it reminds me how passionate I am about technology, and my motivation to the share knowledge.

Like I shared in April last year (https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/nicholashume_gpus-nvidia-amd-activity-7095511783053930496-vcne) a college/university buddy and I started a technology website in 1999, posting about hardware, software and general tech news, so this feels like a natural successor to that - 25 years later!

Having lived and worked around the world, I’ve learned to adapt to new environments, languages, and cultural barriers. This journey has connected me with an incredibly talented group of people across various industries. Through these connections, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge and unique insights that I’m keen to share. I want to surface their perspectives to educate the community and, admittedly, to learn more myself.

I've discovered that business owner's and decision makers appreciate my superpower of distilling complexity into terms that are easily understood, regardless of their technical background. The pace of technological advancements often creates a divide between industry and the enterprise, and my goal is to bridge that gap.

Introducing, "Tech Insider"

Tech Insider is intentionally conversational podcast, with a relaxed tone, and hopefully delivers a laugh or two along the way.

I’m clearly not a journalist, nor a trained presenter, and have a fairly modest podcasting setup, however, the true value lies in the conversations, not in self-taught production quality. The informal format allows for genuine, in-depth discussions that reveal the human side of technology and innovation.

Over the coming months, I’ve lined up discussions with technology executives across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

We’ll dive into a wide range of topics, such as:

  • Data Centers:?exploring the backbone of our digital world. From traditional brick-and-mortar facilities to cutting-edge, modular, and environmentally friendly designs, our guests will share their insights on this critical infrastructure, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and scalability.
  • Liquid Cooling:?As data centers continue to grow and power demands increase, traditional cooling methods are becoming less efficient. We’ll discuss advancements in liquid cooling technologies and their impact on data center efficiency and sustainability. Our guests will explain how these systems work and their benefits over traditional air-cooling methods.
  • Software Platforms:?The software landscape is ever-changing, with new platforms emerging to meet the evolving needs of businesses and consumers. We’ll chat about trends and developments in software that drive modern businesses. Our discussions will cover everything from enterprise solutions to innovative startups that are disrupting the market.
  • Cloud Service Providers:?Cloud computing continues to grow - we’ll look at the role of cloud services in digital transformation. Our guests will share their experiences and insights on how businesses can leverage the cloud for scalability, flexibility, and cost savings.
  • Gaming:?The gaming industry is at the forefront of technological innovation. We’ll delve into the technological advancements in gaming and its influence on entertainment and culture. From nostalgic gaming of the 80's and 90's to the latest trends in cloud gaming, metaverse and beyond, our discussions will highlight the new technologies driving the industry.
  • Networking:?Connectivity is critical plumbing of any digital infrastructure. We’ll investigate the latest in networking technologies and their implications for connectivity and security. Our guests will discuss advancements in network infrastructure, as well as the challenges and opportunities they present.
  • Security:?With threats increasing every day, cybersecurity is more important than ever. We’ll analyze the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity and the strategies to protect digital assets. Our discussions will cover a range of topics, from threat detection and response to the latest in encryption and data protection.

Through Tech Insider, my goal is to bridge the gap between complex technological concepts and our everyday understanding, making technology accessible and engaging for everyone. I hope there’s something for you in each episode. I've only released a few episodes, with many more in the middle of production, AND a fantastic pipeline that just needs to be scheduled.

Thank you for riding shotgun with me on this journey. I look forward to sharing these conversations and discovering new insights together.
