OGC@30 & Innovation Days Next Week
OGC Celebrates its 30th Anniversary next Monday at?OGC@30, which will feature?keynotes, panels, and awards presentations, including our Lifetime Achievement Award to a key figure from OGC’s history, as well as awards recognizing members and organizations that are raising the profile of geospatial technologies and standards.
Following OGC@30 is Innovation Days DC, with two days of keynotes, panels, and interactive sessions (Tue-Wed), followed by a technical 'Introduction to OGC APIs' workshop on Thursday.
With an agenda packed with world-leading experts, including keynotes from Joshua Delmonico , Executive Director of the Federal Geographic Data Committee , and?Anna Rubinstein, Chief of Responsible AI at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency , the event is set to bring valuable insights into the application of cutting-edge technologies to today's issues.?Limited tickets for Innovation Days remain. Urban Digital Twins Discussion Paper
OGC has published a new discussion paper on Urban Digital Twins.?Aimed at city officials and domain professionals working in an urban data context, its goal is to clarify the concept of Urban Digital Twins and to position it in regards to Digital Twins in general as well as the emerging Metaverse.
The paper was put together by OGC's Urban Digital Twins Domain Working Group. A big thank you to the editors? Carsten Roensdorf , Fabrice SERVANT , H.C. Gruler, Nick Giannias , Kyoung-Sook Kim , Zubran Solaiman , and Dimitri Sarafinof .

Candidate OGC API – DGGS Standard
The candidate OGC API – Discrete Global Grid Systems (DGGS)?Part 1: Core?Standard allows APIs to access geospatial data organized by a DGGRS for a specified area, time, and resolution. Further, users can?request the list of zones of a given refinement level matching a particular query.?Public comments are due by December 19, 2024.

Resilient Urban and Forest Environments
The FOCAL EU Project , launched last week,?unites city planners, forestry experts, and climate researchers to develop an open platform and customized applications aimed at strengthening climate adaptation and mitigation in urban and forest environments. OGC will help design the integration platform and will connect FOCAL to the latest geospatial ecosystem research and development, working?closely with the OGC Climate Resilience Domain Working Group to establish best practices for data integration and processing. The outcomes will be widely accessible, with results shared through the OGC Academy to benefit a broader community.

Shaping Ethical GeoAI for 2025
The American Geographical Society , in collaboration with the Columbia Climate School , hosted a gathering of geo-leaders in New York City on November 21-22 to address key issues like climate change, international cooperation, and conflict resolution. Discussions focused on sustainability, geoengineering, geospatial intelligence, ethics, climate justice, and resilience. With an eye on 2025's emphasis on GeoAI, OGC, along with its community and partners, is committed to forging a vision of Ethical GeoAI as technology advances.?

Harsha Vardhan Madiraju ,?OGC's Associate Director, Member Success and Development, will be attending the?4th?India and US Space and Geospatial Business Summit?on December 2, organized by the Geospatial World Chamber of Commerce as part of the GeoSmart India conference at Hyderabad International Convention Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
The following day, December 3, Harsha will also attend the?Department of Science and Technology (DST) User Meet, also part of the GeoSmart India conference.
