Ofgem policy makers to speak at Sustainable Warmth Supply Chain Conference

Sustainable heat is one of the biggest challenges we face in delivering a net zero economy.

We administer a number of renewable energy programmes on behalf of government aimed at improving the heat efficiency of our homes and buildings and when it comes to energy efficiency the Boiler Upgrade and The Energy Company Obligation schemes are an important part of our Net-Zero work.

This week our Deputy Director for Policy and Scheme Development Laura Nell and our Senior Technical Policy Advisor Faith Pashley will be attending The Energy Efficiency Association’s Sustainable Warmth Supply Chain Conference to talk about our management of these schemes and investigate how we work with installers to ensure scheme success.

The Boiler Upgrade scheme ?

  • Provides up front grants to support the installation of heat pumps and biomass boilers
  • Has a budget of £450 million for England and Wales
  • And intends to support up to 90,000 installations

The Energy Company Obligation

  • Puts the obligation on larger energy companies to achieve bill savings by applying energy efficiency measures.?
  • Was set up as an energy efficiency scheme to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty
  • And focuses on improving the energy efficiency of homes in the EPC bands D-G
