Offshore wind energy is headed to Gulf of Mexico
As part of its plan to generate more than 22 gigawatts of clean energy by 2025, for the nation, the Interior Department has announced steps to bring offshore wind energy to two potential spots in the Gulf of Mexico. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is researching potential areas, using data-driven analysis, while being mindful of potential ecological and cultural issues.
Employment of wind turbine technicians is projected to grow 68 percent from 2020 to 2030, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. Engineers with a high-threshold for heights and a passion for renewable energy are finding lucrative careers in wind technology.
