Officially Retired Today!

Officially Retired Today!

Well, this bitter-sweet day has finally arrived as I close out a truly memorable 40 year engineering career.? How does one highlight 40 yrs into one short message?? Other than acknowledging all of those that helped me along the way… and believe me, there are many!? Most taught me what to do, and some taught me what NOT to do.? Either way, the lessons were perpetual and meaningful.

As a naive young man growing up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I believed that with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn new things, and ability to treat others with respect and dignity, that I would be able to make it on my own in this world.? However, I quickly realized I needed one more foundational piece…help and support from others – as this was the real key to self-success!

So to all those who helped me along the way, a big THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!? My personal list is very long and likely includes YOU if we have ever interacted together… recent, or long ago.? This includes my family, friends, classmates, mentors, supervisors, customers, suppliers, and many wonderful colleagues – you all have a brick or two laid into my foundation and character structure!

Special shout out to my wife Kathy and sons Tony & Alex – there were many times when work got in the way of family, and you accepted it.? To my current team at FTI, you are all incredible and self-sacrificing individuals – keep the success train rolling!

But before I depart, I would be remiss to not mention that no matter what struggles you are facing in life, there are many supporters or support systems that want to help you too.? Therefore, if you are struggling with depression, anxiety, mental health issues or even thoughts of suicide… PLEASE reach out to someone for help and support.? I am living proof that we ALL need a little help and support from others in our lifetime!

Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous future – I look forward to our paths crossing again!
