The Official Opposition to God And His Word!

The Bible tells us that we are all born in sin and shaped in iniquity which means that by our very nature we are prone to sinfulness. That is who we are – sinners by nature! We were dead in our sins until Christ came along and redeemed us from the power of sin, which we had no power over previously, and brought us into His marvelous light. So, by our very nature we are sinful. We don’t really need any influence to draw us into that state of sin, but that does not stop Satan from totally immersing us in sinful thoughts, speech, acts and deeds. His way is to steal, rob and kill those who refuse to bow to his philosophy. Thank God that the Bible says that “whom the Son sets free is free indeed!” Free from what? We are free from sin and sinful activities. We are no longer slaves to sin!

Ephesians 2:2 “In which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

So, what is the official opposition to God and His Word? The world, the flesh, and the devil! Remember that while we live in the world, we are not off this world. The flesh is a reference to the inherent sinful nature that we have been delivered from. The devil is the enemy of our souls and wants nothing more than to cause harm, pain, and devastation in our lives. So, we have an open view of the official opposition that we must face and conquer or overcome in this world. Our stance should be one of preparation in God’s Word so that we would be able to overcome the cunning devices and strategies of the devil. The Word of God is our weapon that God has given us to overcome his treachery and cunning attacks on our lives.

The point is how do I equip myself so that I am able to overcome the attacks of the enemy? The only way that we can overcome the enemy is by word of our testimony [God’s Word], and the blood of the Lamb. We are required to walk in obedience to the will of God. When we submit to God, we can resist the devil and he will flee from us. The point is that we are inherently sinful and by our very nature we are drawn to sin, that is why it is so very important to allow God’s Spirit [The Holy Spirit] to indwell our lives. When the Spirit of God resides in our hearts, He helps us [the Helper] to correctly defend ourselves against the wiles of the enemy. He strengthens us and comforts us in times of despair and trials.

When we walk in obedience to the will of God, we oppose all that comes between God and us. Anything that threatens our relationship with God becomes an enemy and we are to distance ourselves from whatever it is. “Come out from among them, be separate, and touch not the unclean thing.” This is a reference to Christians adopting God nature, which is contrary to the nature of the world, and standing on the Promises of God, which cannot be understood or make sense to the world, and walking in the Light of God which shines out from the darkness of this world. Our new lives in Christ Jesus are totally opposed to the pattern of this world, the thinking of this world and the relevance of this world simply because we belong to the Kingdom of God and that Kingdom is not off this world
