Poor lighting, such as glaring or insufficient light, can lead to various issues. Tensions in the neck and shoulders, headaches, feelings of fatigue, and poor concentration are just a few common problems associated with inadequate lighting. Here are some things to consider when planning the lighting for the office.
Keep the general lighting neutral
Opt for general ceiling lighting with a neutral color temperature of 3000 Kelvin. However, in the dining area, we recommend a slightly warmer color temperature of 2700 Kelvin to create an inviting, serene atmosphere.
Combine different lights in the meeting room
Having the right lighting in the meeting room is crucial, especially during lengthy meetings. Invest in good ambient lighting, preferably adjustable spotlights with variable light distribution. Use three-phase tracks for the option to dim the lights in sections, and mount them approximately 60 centimeters from the wall to reduce the risk of glare. Supplement with an elongated pendant light about 80 centimeters above the conference table for effective task lighting.
Customize the lighting at the desk
The lighting at the desk should be adjustable based on your individual needs. This involves desk lamps with dimming function, preferably adjustable color temperature, and well-thought-out ceiling lighting. Ensure that the ceiling lighting is positioned above the head, not directly over the desk, for optimal light diffusion without glare. With an elongated pendant light, you get a smart and discreet fixture with a glare-free glow.
