Offense and Defense Are Both in the QA Playbook. How is Your Offense? STPCon Dallas - September 2016. Join us!!

If the SDLC were like the NFL, what plays are you teaching your team? Do you have a ‘defensive’ powerhouse? A testing team that is excellent at detecting defects. How about your offense?

This session will equip leaders in software quality with actionable tools and techniques to build your “offense” -  To not just be excellent at finding defects, but preventing them too. Topics will include:

  • Root cause analysis, decision-flows, and accountability
    ? Requirements quality
? Quality in Dev and what you can do to improve it
    ? Cost of quality
? How a defect today may save you tomorrow
? How and when QA says “No”

Session Takeaways:

  • Preventing defects via Root Cause Analysis and cross-functional accountability.
  • Tools required for requirements quality and cascading benefits to the SDLC.
  • The value proposition of unit/component testing and how to get your application development peers on-board with quality practices in the dev workflows.
  • How and when to say “No” when quality is getting pushed to the backseat; behind schedule, scope and costs.
  • Learn how to “sell” the cost of quality, and more importantly, the costs/consequences of low quality.
  • Use your byproducts to increase the effectiveness of your test coverage and improve code quality.
