, and cameraman Richard headed off in the early hours of Monday morning. The first leg of the epic adventure saw them bound from Dover to Calais in an electric vehicle (kindly provided by R & B Industrial).
The aim of the challenge is to reach the Leaning Tower of Pisa, The Eiffel Tower and ending up at the Blackpool Tower.
Jordan & the team want to do this in the most ECO sustainable way possible. Jordan will aim to undergo this mammoth task by:
- Cycling & running through Europe using a bike made of locally sourced coppice wood, made by Hampshire creator and inventor Nick Coates
- Paddle across the English Channel, in a kayak made of re-cycled plastic bottles made by Hampshire creator & inventor Conrad Manning. The re-cycled bottles were collected by The University of Winchester & Hampshire School children.
- Cycle & run the last leg of the triathlon back to Jordan's hometown in sunny Blackpool. This will be just in time for the 130 year Blackpool Tower celebrations!
- They will be wild camping, sleeping, eating, washing, and using locally sourced produce whilst keeping their carbon footprints to a bare minimum!
- They will be supported back home by Katie Brooks who is the expedition support manager and sponsor / Supporter Liaison.
The two charities that will benefit from this extraordinary challenge are:
- The Army Cadets Charitable Trust (ACCT) UK. A charity that aims to give all young people the opportunity to develop and achieve through Army Cadets activities.
- Jordan Banks, the expedition will be dedicated to the memory of Jordan Banks, a young boy from Jordan's home town in Blackpool who was tragically taken well before his time (a special piece of art will be revealed in Blackpool on the final day of the expedition)
