OFALYCéE? 's expansion into France marks a significant evolution in its mission to bridge educational systems, offering a unique dual schooling approach that integrates the best of French and Anglophone education. Introduced to the French and francophone population in the US in 2020, OFALycée has since solidified its position as an influential pioneer in delivering virtual French education to students outside France with a unique concept of complementarity unknown before.
Now, set to launch in France in September 2024, OFALycée continues its mission by tailoring its unique educational model specifically for Anglophone students living in France who are native or near-native English speakers.
The core of OFALycée’s philosophy lies in its commitment to bilingual and bicultural education. During the day, students attend local French schools, and in the evenings, they switch to OFALycée's online platform, engaging in courses taught in English. This model reinforces the students' proficiency in both languages and deeply immerses them in both cultures.
This unique approach to schooling culminates in a broader spectrum of higher education options for students. OFALycée students in France will have the opportunity to prepare for the American High School Diploma or British A-Levels alongside their French Baccalauréat. This preparation extends to key examinations such as the SAT in the US.
Although the offer of preparing for the High school Diploma already exists in France, OFALycée's curriculum stands out as it is specifically designed for students who are native or near-native English speakers. This tailored approach guarantees that the educational content not only fulfills the linguistic requirements of these students but also provides academic challenges suitable for their advanced language abilities. From Nathaniel Hawthorne, Haper Lee Oscar Wilde, and Charles Dickens, these literature pieces involve a multifaceted approach that encourages critical thinking, cultural exploration, and literary analysis.
The launch of OFALycée in France is not just an expansion but a strategic step to fulfill a growing need among families for reliable, high-quality bilingual education.
The school offers courses from primary up through high school, focusing on language, literature, and history in English, tailored for native or advanced-level English speakers enrolled in the French system. Essentially, OFALycée is launching a virtual equivalent of the American and British international sections that have previously only been accessible through physical institutions within France.
