An Ode to VHS

An Ode to VHS

Fact: growing up in Saudi in the 80's & 90's VHS tapes were my life.

Once a year on my family's annual trip to the US, my mother would come back with an entire suitcase filled with VHS tapes. So, at an early age I was introduced to Hitchcock; James Bond films (pre Pierce Brosnan); every musical you can think of; and of course the original romantic comedies featuring Audrey Hepburn. I would watch these movies on repeat after school. Over the years with the introduction of satellite television, DVD's & now streaming, the tapes have become like historical artifacts; sitting on shelves and inside drawers building dust for years.

Every time we think of getting rid of them it's hard. And we know we have to (we just started getting into the Kondo method). So, I have to admit that it is odd to have sentimental feelings towards a clunky plastic rectangle. But I proudly do, and I guess I'll have to figure out what to with them.

Ideas?
