An Ode to Mrs. Seiler

As many of you know, I have always referred to Mrs. Seiler as, well, Mrs. Seiler. Don’t know why. But there it is. I remember the great late humorist Erma Bombeck’s line as it appeared in the Boston Globe: “I married your father for life. But not for lunch…”. Further, I reflect on the Carly Simon lyric: “This isn’t exactly what we had planned….”. But here we are. 26 years into our marriage. Deep in daughters and all the joy they bring (you are right to read that both ways, but the joy by far outweighs the “joy”). And for the last few months, spending a whole lot of time together. More than we ever imagined. That will change again in a couple of weeks. I will be off to my new venture, one about which I will write soon, and one to which I am looking feverishly forward. But in the meantime, and in this moment, wanted to express my true gratitude to the one who makes all that is, possible. I remember an old girlfriend reflecting on the health of our then relationship by saying “you don’t bug me”. I can only imagine how many times I have, or have at least come close to bugging Mrs. Seiler as I have been working towards our next-step from the “furry chair” at home. A very public thanks to a most deserving partner. Here’s to hoping you have one of those too…
