Ode to Maestro ZUBIN Mehta
This poem was penned 6th Nov 1967
There is music in his?fingers
Music in his heart
Zubin and his music will never be torn apart.
Bombay boy welcome home!
After exactly 14yrs
At Santa Cruz airport when you did land
Greeted with orchestra of shouts and cheers
Garlanded with flowers
Fragrance of every hue
Bombayites sincerely shower
Love from me to you
He has a dynamic personality
Pride hath he none
Hair so soft and curly
Darling of every one
Bombay really ached with joy
To see her little wonder boy
Standing on the rostrum to conduct
The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra
Audience in their electrified
With open open mouthed
Gaped wide eyed
Watching Zubin wave his baton
Believe me in the end a
Big Sensation
Hail! darling young maestro
Your appearance created a
Big Fiasco
Shammukhanande thundered
Bravo Encore Encore
Really it's agony and ecstasy
An affair to remember
Loverly Loverly Loverly
Vive Zubin the Young Maestro!
