Ode to 2021!

Ode to 2021!

Here we are, we made it! 2021 has met its end

So long, adios, arrivederci, and auf wiedersehen!

Right when I thought we had all moved ahead,

We’re back to square one as a new virus spreads.

Many folks paused as plans needed to change

Big celebrations, parties and such had to be rearranged.

Folks took a “break” looking at life through a different lens

For some that meant leaving their jobs, for others making amends.

Lives have changed, hobbies resumed, some even sold their homes

All in effort to live life more fully even with a future unknown.

This year we did see families sharing long overdue hugs,

Kissing grandkids and friends, treasured daughters and sons.

The downside for sure is friendships that have changed

Fighting more than ever pointing the finger of blame.

Families have been fractured, they say it has been tough

I’m hopeful that at some point, we’ll all say, “Enough is enough”.

Realizing nothing is remedied by anger and mistrust

Perhaps we might revisit the value to peacefully discuss. ??

Sadly it’s come down to who is wrong or right, ?

It certainly makes one wonder, will we ever end this fight? ?

As I hang on to hope, and improve with giving more grace

Perhaps I can be part of the solution, I hope that is the case.

I will always be convinced that we’re capable of so much good

I know we all value the impact of treating others as we should.

If we can believe in ourselves as well as neighbors and friends,

This narrative of hate and anger may be something we can mend.

As we look ahead and wonder what’s ahead in ‘22

My wish for all is love and peace today and all year though. ?
