1. Sense & Explore
Curiosity fuels exploration. Curated resources that might come in handy.
- SystemInnovation.events: Are you interested in applied systems thinking? The Step Into System Innovation festival team has shared the summaries of all the sessions of the festival. Lots of good stuff in there.
- ThinkSiD.org: Case study about speeding up sustainability across IKEA’s supply chain with systemic tools.
“By visualizing these networks the team discovered how the system can be changed most effectively at the root.”
- Amazing-outcomes.de: If your work is connected to Agile in any way, you might have heard that the new Scrum Guide has been recently launched. You can find here a side by side comparison of the latest two versions. Here’s a snapshot:
- Interconnected.org: Good read from Matt Webb about self-driving corporations.
“I’ve been thinking about how companies could be automated, and what we would use them for if that were possible.”
- Increment.com: The new edition of the Remote magazine is beautifully illustrated and invites you to consider the nature and nuances of remote work.
Vimeo: We’ve started exploring creating short videos as a new medium for the information that we curate or generate.
Here’s the first video that we made, about the 5 virtues of trustworthy advisers (one of the topics from OD45):
2. Sense & Connect
The wisdom is in the conversations. Opportunities to connect and learn together.
- Pop-up sharing: Are you curious about the topic of leading change? The next pop-up session is tomorrow, Thu, Dec 3rd, 4-5pm GMT and will be about sharing key takeaways from a 6-part learning series where Paul Tolchinsky shared with generosity his lessons learned and reflections from leading change in the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, the 00s and the 10s. Details and registration (free to attend)
- #orgtalks: Yesterday we had two rich conversations around organizational challenges like rebuilding employee trust in a difficult business context and increasing clarity about the org structure evolution. We’re going to take a break in December and the next gatherings will be in late Jan 2021. Sign up here if you wish to join the future talks (free to attend)
3. Sense & Change
Understanding new concepts and putting them into practice.
As we mentioned last week, there are two questions that we want to answer in this section:
- What if you could understand a concept that sounds promising, get an overview of its practical use cases and be able to decide where to apply it next week?
- What if you could do all of this in maximum 15 minutes?
The first concept explanation that we’re working on is about the Dynamic Stakeholder Mapping, a tool that we invented and we’re using in our practice.
Why bother creating a new tool?
- Most stakeholder mappings are static and rarely revisited
- Even though they might bring some insights during the mapping exercise, they are not usually used as navigation aids while progressing with a specific endeavor (initiative, change, project, program, product etc.)
When creating the tool, we asked ourselves:
- What if you had a simple & easy to use navigation aid for the wider context of your endeavors?
- What if you could easily involve your team and others in creating a shared understanding about the endeavor’s stakeholders, their positioning and the (inter)relationships in the wider context?
As we believe in sustainable knowledge - see video - and want to create knowledge that’s doesn’t go to waste easily, it’s easily applicable and reusable, and it minimizes information pollution - here’s an important question:
Does the concept of Dynamic Stakeholder Mapping sound promising to you?
If you’re interested in the further development of the Guide to Dynamic Stakeholder Mapping, including a thorough concept explanation, getting an overview of its practical use cases and being able to decide where to apply it in your work, we invite you to join the waiting list here: Join the waiting list.
All of you who join the waiting list will receive a 100% discount code for the guide when it's ready. We aim to validate the guide’s relevance this week and next week and then finish creating it by mid December. Will you join this experiment?
Thanks for reading
