October's EYFS Activities: Halloween

Get ready for a spooktacular time with these engaging EYFS Halloween activities!

We've highlighted two easy activities designed to captivate the children's imagination and bring the Halloween spirit to life in a hands-on, interactive way!


Activity 1: Pumpkin Bunting


You will need:

  • Orange card
  • Scissors
  • Paint, markers, pens
  • Stickers and other craft decorations
  • Glue
  • String or tape
  • Hole punch (optional)
  • Stapler (optional)

Method:

To make pumpkin bunting for the nursery, cut out pumpkin shapes from orange card and have the children decorate them with faces using paint, markers, stickers, or other materials.

Once decorated, either punch holes in the pumpkins and thread them onto a string or staple them onto tape.

Finally, hang the bunting around the room to create a festive Halloween atmosphere.

Activity 2: Paper Plate Spider


Create a fun and spooky Paper Plate Spider with this easy craft! Using simple materials like a plate, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes, you’ll have a cute Halloween decoration in no time. Perfect for children and a great way to get creative!

What you will need:

  • Paper plate (black or white, but any colour works)
  • Black paint (or black paper if you don’t want to paint)
  • Googly eyes (or cut-out paper circles for eyes)
  • Black pipe cleaners (for legs)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Hole puncher (optional)
  • String (optional, for hanging)

Method:

  1. To make a paper plate spider, paint a plate black and let it dry.
  2. Glue on googly eyes, then cut and bend pipe cleaners for legs.
  3. Insert the legs through small holes around the plate’s edge and twist to secure.
  4. Optionally, add a string to hang the spider and decorate with glitter or stickers for extra flair.
