Happy 30th Birthday to the Frank G. Wells Clinic!
The Frank G. Wells Environmental Law Clinic is one of the pillars of our experiential education. It?launched in 1994 when lawyers from the Natural Resources Defense Council along with philanthropist Dan Emmett approached UCLA School of Law about creating a legal clinic where students could work outside of the classroom on behalf of community groups to help enforce environmental laws. It was one of the first such clinics at UCLA and one of the first environmental law clinics in the country. It’s mind-boggling to think of the generations of law students who have come through the clinic and learned to be fierce advocates on behalf of their clients and are now out in the world making it a better place. Please share the above video as we mark this anniversary. READ MORE.

High-Powered Partners Visit?our California Environmental Legislation & Policy Clinic
Meanwhile, in the California Environmental Legislation and Policy Clinic, students have the opportunity to work with lawmakers, legislative staffers, advocates, and stakeholders. One highlight is always classroom visits by State Senators and Assemblymembers. This month, students presented their legal research to Senators Ben Allen, Henry Stern,?Caroline Menjivar, and Assemblymember Lori D. Wilson to get feedback and refine the clinic proposals. Students also got to hear about working in Sacramento and their career journeys. Stay tuned for legislation that may emerge!
