October recap - FL Technics news
FL Technics
FL Technics is a global provider of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.
Take-away from the industry one of the most anticipated events – MRO Europe –,?challenges and potential outlined
MRO Europe 2022 ended last week and there is a lot to unpack here. Apart from hands-on business opportunities and cases evaluated we had a thread of topics moderated by Aviation Week Network, including a panel discussion I had the pleasure to speak in.?
Regardless of the number of challenges we face, I am confident we are on the right track to maintain and develop the future of aviation, because every partner and counterpart we met has some mutual focus and goals to reach for.?I was inspired to meet industry leaders rally and unite on shared goals, focus on mutual challenges and the ways to resolve them, would it be labor shortages, supply chain disruptions, or geopolitical shifts.??
One thing came for certain to me – the impact of challenges over past years has shifted the priorities and strategies of airlines and operators. Companies are changing their approach towards delivery and development of services and solutions. In particular – it is the approach towards labor and supply chain that changes, as players recalculate the balance between outsourced and in-house operations.?
In fact, the shifts are so huge that they impact organizations outside the corporate structures, as governmental institutions, regulators, and even work unions are keen to address labor shortages and other issues in a more flexible and efficient approach.??
The goal is mutual – to become more efficient and tailored service providers in the aviation industry. Yet, the way I see it – the MRO companies will handle the challenges more effectively, since such challenges were always related to the core of our business, while airlines and lessors are forced to adjust and align with the new realities.?
SAME COMPANY. SAME SERVICE. NEW NAME. FL TECHNICS.
A huge day in London with lots of news and milestones in MRO Europe 2022! And we have quite some of them including one announced just this morning by our CEO?Zilvinas Lapinskas?– FL Technics unites group MRO operations under a one brand approach across the globe!

“FL Technics is developing at a high pace despite the global and economical restraints, as we continue to grow the business and network of operations worldwide,” Zilvinas Lapinskas, CEO of FL Technics, outlined the organic necessity of such a step, projecting future developments. “Such a pace challenges us to maintain efficiency and consistency on all levels, and proper identity with strong brand presence is one of the ways to achieve this. Business News
FL Technics wheels and brakes team secures new contract with Wizz Air
Increasing demand for flights and new routes within Europe lead MRO organizations and airlines to look for new ways to improve efficiency and sustainability of mutual operations. One such recent development was made as FL Technics and Wizz Air signed an agreement for wheels and brakes solutions to be provided over the course of 5 years.
Starting from October, FL Technics will be providing wheels and brakes services for the carriers ever-expanding fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft family. A full scope of services is set up, including repair and overhaul, storage, and supply chain, as well as management solutions.
Zilvinas Lapinskas, CEO of FL Technics, pointed out the long-term partnership:
“With sustainable business in mind, our teams have been long-term partners now in a number of business areas including line maintenance and base services. Trust gained over the years lead to this new development and cooperation, to further expand synergies between our organizations.”
FL Technics wheels and brakes solutions is the latest addition to the already extensive portfolio of partnerships between the two companies, as Wizz Air leverages capacity and capabilities of independent global MRO network operated by FL Technics.
Saulius Bajarūnas, COO of FL Technics, highlights the importance of such a prominent level of trust:
“Nowadays, every business within the aviation industry seeks trusted and reliable partnerships to endure the challenging and ever-changing environment within global markets. In such context, I am glad and proud that our companies continue to build long-lasting partnerships on multiple levels to develop unique integrated operations, as FL Technics leverages scale, capacity, and capabilities to support such a demanding and fast-growing carrier as Wizz Air.”
FL Technics and Norwegian Air Shuttle signed a 5-year contract as the companies’ for Wheels and Brakes solutions
FL Technics Wheels and Brakes capabilities and infrastructure allow the company to provide fast and efficient services, granting quick turn-around-times for airlines and operators. As a result, FL Technics contributes to global effort within the aviation industry to reduce CO2 footprint by optimizing delivery times and shortening ranges necessary to be flown in between aircraft services.
One of the measures that Norwegian is taking to improve efficiency of operations and reduce a CO2 footprint is a purchase of 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, that are due to be delivered between 2025 and 2028. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 is approximately 14 percent more fuel-efficient compared to the previous-generation aircraft, putting the company on strong footing to achieve its target of reducing emissions by 45 percent by 2030.
Both approaches lead to a perfect match for the two companies as they will reduce operational costs, improve efficiency, and in general – will shape a sustainable model of mutual business.

Our capabilities
No month goes by without new challenges at FL Technics
October 2022 will be remembered as the time when the Special High-Frequency Eddy Current Inspection of Turbine Rear Frame was finally carried out in the environment the team was excited about the most — Lagos Airport, Nigeria (LOS). Adapting to a completely different culture and getting to know their work ethics taught us how one can grow from exchanging knowledge and expertise. NDT this time resulted not only in flaw detection, material and coating thickness measurements, material identification, and establishing the heat treatment condition of certain materials BUT (!) also left us feeling eager for other challenges that await.
Interested to know more about the NDT projects? Contact our Head of Non- Destructive Testing team,?Ovidijus Ru?inskas, at?[email protected]?to discuss career opportunities at NDT department.

People Stories
Here in FL Technics, we do love to put theory into practice!
Recently, our team participated in the A320neo LEAP1A practical training. LEAP-1A is a new-generation engine for the A320neo family. Compared to the previous-generation engines, it reduces fuel consumption, CO2, and NOx emissions by 15% and 50%, respectively, and meets the most stringent noise standards. During the training, we had a unique opportunity to learn the subtleties of repairing an environmentally-friendly engine, as it requires special maintenance and care.
A big thank you to the instructors and our team members, too — nothing makes us happier than seeing our colleagues improving their skills and learning new things!
Base Maintenance - NDT department sharing a career story
Responsible, attentive to detail, fast learner — who? Meet?Tadas Kubilius, our Borescope Inspector (Base Maintenance, Non-Destructive Testing Laboratory). To put it simply, he’s the man in charge of the shape aircraft engines are in, with the help of some next-gen digital tools.
Only one year has passed at FL technics and the BSI team already cannot imagine a week without the support of Tadas. Since the very first day, he’s been showing his eagerness to learn and the ability to absorb large amounts of information. When asked how Tadas finds his job, he shared that working in the lab should become ‘the new cool’. The aviation industry is full of exciting opportunities, but this rather modern role should not get lost in the competition, especially knowing how fast one can grow here as a professional.
The inspector team continues to grow, which can only mean one thing — it’s your time to shine! To learn more about the role (and apply), please visit?https://lnkd.in/ejCdpC6H.
