October Radical Empathy Newsletter

I'm very excited to announce that I will be the first speaker in a new series on Women in Leadership at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. The event happens to be during the same week as my 35th reunion at Stanford University, and I'm looking forward to connecting with folks at both events.

Radical Empathy is a hot topic these days, and I am looking forward to several workshops and talks in the next few weeks. This first week of October I'll be doing a workshop for an organization, TRYSPACES, that has a mission that is close to my heart.

TRYSPACES explores the relationship between the presence of young people in public spaces and the way they experience this visibility.

Radical Empathy means taking action, and throughout my career I have found a variety of ways to support organizations that work with youth, particularly around access to college. Finally, January and February may seem far away right now, but the (academic) year is going by quickly. Have you thought about speakers for Martin Luther King day or Black History Month? Speakers are already getting booked, so don't delay in developing your plans. Of course, you can always invite great speakers to come to your organization, so don't hesitate to reach out any time of year.
