A message from the CEO:

Hello valued reader,

I want to begin this letter by saying that while cybersecurity is especially important during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, it should always be a priority. According to Check Point, ransomware, mobile malware, zero-day vulnerabilities in supply chains, and global attacks on businesses are the biggest cybersecurity issues and challenges in 2023. Additionally, Check Point gave the statistic, “In Q3 2022, global cyberattacks increased by 28% compared to the same quarter in 2021. Going into 2023, this trend is likely to continue.”?

I am not telling you these statistics to scare you; my goal is to paint a picture of the reality of the world we live in today. It is vital that you know how prevalent cyberattacks are because we have seen many small- and medium-sized organizations say, “We aren’t at risk. Why would anyone attack us? We are too small. They’d much rather go after the big guys. We are fine.”?

Here is what I say in response: you are fine until you aren’t. Luck is not something you should expect when it comes to cybersecurity. Just because a cyberattack has not hit your company yet, does not mean it will never come.?

Let’s look at this from the hacker’s perspective. Would it be easier to attack one big company with a complex cybersecurity infrastructure or multiple smaller companies that have little for their cybersecurity? That is the problem.? Small- and medium-sized organizations don’t know how much of a risk they are at. The reason I’m telling you is because I simply want you to understand that you are at risk.

I suggest all business leaders begin with a free cyberhealth evaluation. It’s hard to start building a cybersecurity protocol when you don’t know where to begin, right? Our SensCy Score evaluation is the perfect starting point, as it provides you with a numerical representation of your cyberhealth on a scale from 0 to 1000, similar to a credit score. Once the cyberhealth evaluation is complete, we send you a one-page report that details the steps you need to take to improve your score.?

What do you love most about your job?

"As a recent hire, I really appreciate all of the amazing support I have received from my team. They have gone above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and welcome! This team has fostered a comfortable and supportive environment in which I am able to make mistakes and grow both personally and professionally."

What has been your most meaningful accomplishment so far at SensCy?

"During my short time at SensCy, I have gained unique exposure to the cybersecurity industry and have been able to learn valuable skills through work on the cyberhealth evaluations. I am proudest of the client facing skills I have gained through experiences leading the evaluation meetings! Thank you to my team for this opportunity, and I cannot wait to learn more during the rest of my time at SensCy!”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

"Outside of work, I love to sing! I grew up learning Indian classical music but decided to broaden my horizons and join an acapella group, Amazin’ Blue, my freshman year of college. Since then, I have sung a range of genres including RnB, Pop, and Jazz music- a challenging yet rewarding feat."

In Case you Missed it:

"What I feel like surprised me is the emotional piece of cyber security. Just slowing down, re-reading email addresses, making sure that I understand who I'm communicating with at all times and just being hyper-vigilant."

- Breanne Stuart, CEO of Homewatch Caregivers of Southeast Michigan

"There's a handful of small things you can do that make you much harder to attack, and it's like a chronic condition; you can't be totally healthy, just healthier. But the bar to be healthier isn't as high as you might think, and my advice is that if you get serious about it and get some help, you can be much, much safer."

- Milan Gandhi, CEO of Med-Share, Inc.

SensCy CEO, Rick Snyder, led a roundtable discussion with prominent industry leaders and SBAM members who have dramatically transformed their companies' cybersecurity over the last year: Milan Gandhi, CEO of Med-share Inc., and Breanne Stuart, CEO of Homewatch Caregivers of Southeast Michigan. In Case you Missed it:

?"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. [...] If you wait until you actually have an attack and try to recover, that's enormously costly."
