Event season is well and truly back!
After a short lull in the summer, the Horizon Works team have been back on the road at events across North East England – and we’ve hosted several events at our HQ too!
We exhibited at EMCON Engineering & Manufacturing Show , North East England’s engineering and manufacturing showcase on 14th September at Rainton Arena, and supported Engineering and Manufacturing Network (EMN) with PR and comms activity throughout 2023. Check out how we helped promote EMCON here.
A couple of weeks later, team Horizon Works was at The Beacon Of Light in Sunderland for the North East Automotive Alliance’s North East Automotive Expo – a real highlight in the automotive industry calendar, which we supported in our role as Expo Guide sponsor.
In September, we also launched our Opportunities Series of events, which we are hosting to help businesses tap into industry knowledge, learn about new sector opportunities and connect with sector organisations and trade bodies.
The Northumberland Opportunity event, held in association with Advance Northumberland kicked off the series and it was followed this month by The Defence Opportunity – which you can read about below!
October also saw the latest Engineering and Manufacturing Marketers’ Meet-Up with EMN take place at our event space, where we discussed all things SEO. And there’s plenty more to follow in the coming months too!?
Have any feedback, or would like to know more about how we can support you? Please?get in touch.

Taking place on 24th October in our Event Space, The Defence Opportunity saw Andrew Kinniburgh , Director-General of Make UK Defence, deliver a comprehensive overview of the UK’s defence sector landscape – and provide an insight into both the opportunities and challenges for SMEs, from the importance of demonstrating social values to strengthening cyber security.
Andrew also spoke to delegates on Make UK Defence’s support for engineering and manufacturing SMEs, including the Fit for Defence initiative and the Advance in Defence programme, of which Horizon Works is an active partner.
We also welcomed Graeme Parkins , Commercial Director of Dyer Engineering Ltd , a County Durham-based group of fabrication and machining businesses, to Horizon Works for the event. Graeme took delegates through Dyer Engineering’s journey in the defence sector and provided valuable advice on areas including JOSCAR accreditation, ESG, social values, business development and upskilling.
