Over 50,000 female police officers now in forces

"The figure of 50,364 women in the 43 police forces achieved today means there are now more female police officers pursuing criminals and serving the public than since records began – making up 34.9% of the overall workforce. Of the recruits hired since April 2020, 42.5% (13,326) are women."

The government is on track to deliver its manifesto commitment to recruit 20,000 additional officers by March 2023, with 15,343 extra police now hired – making up 77% of the target.

Aldi is hiring 6,000 people with salaries of over £80,000 a year to offer as cost of living crisis worsens

Salaries start from £44,000 for successful applicants in the first year. It comes after the branch opened an eco-friendly store in Royal Leamington Spa earlier this month in a bid to reduce carbon emissions by up to two-thirds and make recycling easier for customers.

"The supermarket has fast grown to dominate groceries in the UK, with more than 970 stores and new plans to open 16 more by the end of the year. As a result, Aldi said it will soon be hiring for 6,000 more jobs."

Bond Healthcare named Best Temporary Recruitment Agency in the UK

Belfast firm, Bond Healthcare has been named Best Temporary Recruitment Agency in the UK at the Recruiter Awards 2022 which took place in the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London.

The judges commended Bond Healthcare on its excellent compliance record which includes 100% clean audit reports from the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority and its ability to maintain service levels during very challenging times.

Labour market overview, UK: October 2022

The UK employment rate for Jun to Aug 2022 was 75.5%, 0.3 percentage points lower than the previous quarter (Mar to May 2022), which had a notably higher employment rate than other periods.

The number of employees decreased on the quarter, while self-employed workers increased. The employment rate is 1.0 percentage points lower than before the pandemic.

Travel agencies continue to prioritise recruitment despite fears of slowdown

Travel agencies say staff recruitment remains a priority for businesses in the sector despite the forecast of a recession.

Firms said they were forging ahead with hiring plans in contrast with other industries as the cost-of-living crisis has failed to dent travel bookings and in anticipation of a busy January sales period.

In contrast, technology and finance firms have revealed plans to put recruitment on hold as global economic growth slows.
