October Happenings & Highlights

Somehow September flew by and October is in full swing! Fall is my favorite time of year and I am so happy to see many creative ideas for events and activities still happening. Here are a few of the fun activities that caught my eye. There are plenty more and if you know of something happening that you would like me to highlight, please let me know.

New to town or have a new neighbor? Samantha Loomis, representative for New Neighbors, will be hosting two informational coffees this month on Wednesday, October 7th and Saturday, October 10th at 9:30 in the Silvermine Art Center Sculpture Garden. She will be answering any questions as well as giving welcome gifts from local vendors. If you would like to attend or know someone who is new to town please let Samantha know [email protected]

Curious about New Canaan Public School Schedules? New Canaan public schools started the year with a hybrid approach. As of this week Kindergarten - 6th grade have returned to full time in school instruction. It is the hope that 7th and 8th grade will resume full in school instruction and the high school will resume full time classes by the end of October.

Meals on Wheels PSA: We are returning to our regular delivery schedule. We had been asking volunteers to drive for an entire week and we had been asked to limit our drivers to volunteers between the ages of 27 - 59 however, we are returning to our original driving schedules. We are using a sign up genius link for volunteers. If you are healthy and able to deliver, please sign up. If you have never delivered before and would like to be a volunteer, please call me and I will happily take you on the route and teach you the ropes. We are continuing with contactless delivery! Any questions, please reach out! Sign up here!

We loved doing hayrides at Stew’s every Halloween when my kids were little. Due to social spacing Stew's got creative and are doing a Drive Thru Hay Ride. You can tune your car radio and bring the family through our “maze” set up in the parking lot.  It’s FREE and looks like fun. Check the website for more info.

If you are looking for ways to help others from home, the New Covenant Center in Stamford is in desperate need of sandwiches for serving at lunchtime. Prepare sandwiches at home and deliver them to 147 Richmond Hill Avenue, Stamford, CT.

Market Update: the New Canaan Real Estate Market continues to see low inventory and high demand. As of today inventory is down almost 24% from last year and pending sales are up 112%. The median price has also increased 14% to $1,434,000 from $1,256,250 at the same time last year. Buyers are still coming to New Canaan as an escape from the city. Please take a look at today's market overview. https://www.houlihanlawrence.com/popup/admin/marketing_reports/market_overview_results/. As always, referrals are the heart of my business. If you or anyone you know are thinking of selling or buying, please reach out so we can discuss your options.

Stay safe, stay healthy and enjoy the fabulous fall weather in Connecticut.

Cheers!

Michele
